Sgaffito is an artistic or decorative technique that involves scratching thruough a coating on a hard surface to reveal parts of another underlying coating in a contrasting color

 We will perform Sgraffito on a medium trinket plate. You will be furnished a plate on which you will apply the underglaze. You will design a pattern which you will use tools to carve your design. When you are satisfied you will leave the plate with us. We will let the plate continue to dry, bisque fire, apply a clear glaze and final fire. You can then pick up your master piece the next week and use your new family heirloom which you have created.
